  The 2012 Baker Ridge Vineyard – Backbone Block Pinot Noir features the Martini clone from our 20-plus year old Estate Vineyard. This east facing block is less than one acre in a cool and protected site on Baker Ridge. The clusters were hand harvested in the early morning of September 21, then sorted, destemmed, and sorted again into one-ton fermenters where they were cold soaked for five days. This native fermentation lasted for 16 days throughout which we punched down the cap two times daily. Following fermentation, the tanks were drained and the skins were pressed via our basket press. The wine aged on lees for 11 months in French oak barrels (37% new).

  The 2012 Baker Ridge Vineyard – 667 Block Pinot Noir showcases 100% Dijon clone 667 from our Estate Vineyard. This less than 1.5 acre block produces berries of unquestionable character. The clusters were sorted, destemmed, and then sorted again into a small open topped fermenter where it was cold soaked for six days. The native fermentation lasted for 15 days throughout which we punched down the cap two to three times daily. Following fermentation, the tank was drained and the skins were pressed via our basket press. The wine was aged on lees for 14 months in 100% French oak barrels (38% new).

Baker Ridge Vineyard, Russian River Valley

  The 2012 Baker Ridge Vineyard – Dexter’s Block Pinot Noir features Pommard, Wadenswil, and various Dijon clones from our 25-plus year old Estate Vineyard. This south facing, VSP trained, Pinot block was part of the original planting by Davis Bynum. This block was hand harvested on the cool morning of September 28. The clusters were sorted, destemmed, and then sorted again to a small open topped fermenter where it was cold soaked for six days. The native fermentation lasted for 15 days throughout which we punched down the cap two to three times daily. Following fermentation, the tank was drained and the skins were pressed via our basket press. The wine was aged on lees for 10 months in 100% French oak barrels (38% new) then racked off the lees to neutral oak barrels for an additional four months.

  The 2012 Starr Ridge Vineyard – Amber Block Pinot Noir features 100% clone 115 from an eastern facing slope within an unusually rocky and well-drained section of the vineyard. The clusters were hand harvested in the early morning of September 21, then sorted, destemmed, and sorted again into open top fermenters where they were cold soaked for five days. This native fermentation lasted for 16 days throughout which we punched down the cap two times daily. Following fermentation, the tanks were drained and the skins were pressed via our basket press. The wine aged on lees for 14 months in French oak barrels (40% new).
